Jesus finishes His discourse on the commissioning of His disciples. He tells them whoever welcomes them actually welcomes Himself which is also welcoming the Father who sent Jesus. It is easy for us to take the role of the disciples and seek to be welcomed by others for sharing the Gospel. However, what if we are the ones welcoming disciples in this teaching? Such as we see people and then welcome them in the Kingdom. Likewise, instead of focusing on our differences, what if we found how God is working in others' lives and find commonalities? This means that any person who exhibits godly characteristics we can learn from since only God can produce His fruit in others.

Jesus says the welcoming of a prophet will result in a prophet's reward. A prophet is one who knows the path we tread, shows insight, and calls us out of our complacency. There are many prophets whose words still call us out of our comfort zones. Also, the reward is not something tangible, but is still significant. The reward is Jesus! To have Jesus is to have His ways in your life, which is to relinquish the control over to Him.
