This week is about Joseph's dream and obedience to angels to keep Mary and Jesus safe from Herod. He immediately takes them to Egypt for an unknown time period until Herod dies and specifically until God tells them to move again. Sometimes we have to remain in a foreign place until God releases us. It may not be a physical location but instead may be a time of testing or trial. It may also be an awareness that we are not where we wanted to be at this time in our lives. But one day God will move us to another level.
As Joseph gets up in the middle of the night after his dream to start the journey with his family, it is apparent they will need provisions for the journey which costs money. Fortunately the magi had just recently left gold, frankincense, and myrrh, all which would help pay for the supplies. God always provides the provision for the journey He wants us to make.
I am sure that Joseph never in his wildest dreams would have expected this kind of adventure in his life. The last place he would have thought he would be is in Egypt as a refugee. We may end up where we never thought we would travel to, but nothing has disrupted God's plans for us.
