After Peter asks Jesus, "What about us?" Jesus tells a parable about a vineyard owner who kept recruiting more people to work for him. At the end of the day, he gives everyone the same amount of money even though the last group had only worked for an hour.

This parable emphasizes a principle that we seldom mention: The Kingdom of God is not fair! Everyone is invited in and it does not matter how long you have accepted the invitation. All are welcome!

Also, if you want to be miserable, keep a record of what everyone gets! When we keep records, it leads only to jealousy and misery.

Jesus also stresses that God does what God wants to do! We do not tell God whom He can invite into His Kingdom. Likewise, we do not decide what God does with what He owns...which is everything!

The Kingdom of God is about proclaiming good news...not about earning a wage/prize/reward. We should work out of gratitude not out of expectation.
