Peter came up to Jesus and asked Him how often we are to forgive a brother who sins against us? Seven times? Jesus responds, "Not seven times, but seventy-seven times."

We have a storage well to draw from for forgiveness...when we pull from our own self worth, we run out; it costs too much! Thus, we have a limit of how much we can forgive others. But our value is not our self worth but how God sees us.

Jesus tells the disciples a parable of how a master forgives a slave an impossible debt that could never be repaid.

Ultimately, we are the same value as the debt we owe! So, the impossible debt that is forgiven represents how God sees us as so valuable to Him. His breath is in us. We are the full value that he always saw in us. So, no one can exhaust our well for forgiveness, when we see ourselves in the value that God sees us.

But to tap in to the new well, we have to follow into Jesus' death. Jesus showed us how to live and how to die so that we can engage in a new birth in resurrection. The result is, like the Father, we are no longer in the business of bookkeeping. We do not keep records anymore of what others owe us. Thus, we can forgive others as we have been forgiven.
